Pte Alexander George Martin shown as No 1 Commando

I am looking for the cause of death of, or any official source of information on, the above named Commando who died on the 29th November 1943 and is buried at Rangoon War Cemetery. Please reply on this message with any information and the source/reference etc.

On the CWGC record Pte Martin is simply shown as Commando. I am uncertain where the original reference to No 1 Commando came from as it was on our original ROH which did not have sources.

He and 5 others are buried in a collective grave. The others are from units as follows: one from RAMC; two from 139 Sqn RAFVR; one from 99 Sqn RAFVR; and one from RAAF. You can view their details on the CWGC Grave Registration Report Form here: https://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/2260896/martin,-alexander-george/#&gid=null&pid=1

Here is our ROH entry for him: http://www.commandoveterans.org/AlexanderGeorgeMartin1Commando

Thanks again Guy.

I have added the details now and included some notes querying his Commando unit. Hopefully one day a relative with access to his service record will tell us more.

http://www.commandoveterans.org/AlexanderGeorgeMartinCommando
