Hi Dave
I see you have more information now than in your previous posts. Is this from his service record? If so are you able to either post copies here of the record that reference his postings, or, if you prefer, email them to me by the link below. Sometimes there are clues on the record that may not be obvious at first.

Hi Pete
Thanks very much for getting back to me so quickly. I have received my fathers records and needs some working out. In the letter with his records it states he served in the army when he left the marines and I have now been in touch with them for any info they might have. I have also attached a copy of his location list.

Dave.
Looks like your dad was in a Home Based Ledger (HBL) signals so I would hazard a guess he was a commando signaller for a while.
2437 naval party were signallers, drivers, cooks, general duties marines etc normally to operate captured ports and support the General or chief of staff. In Normandy it would have supported ANCXF the allied naval commander expeditionary force.
High flyer was a ship not sure if a stone frigate.
46 weren?t in Italy but I?m sure 41 were as were 40 and I think 43 later on.

Thanks for this info. It doesn?t say in his records what unit he was with but my brother thought it was 46 and I think it was 40. He seemingly told my brother he was involved at the Anzio landings?

Hi Dave
Do you have a photo of your father wearing his beret by any chance, during or post war. If so can you scan and attach it here. Additionally you could see if the RM Historical Society have anymore information about RM Signallers. As you can imagine they were a valuable resource.
