Hello everybody,
I am looking for the Information, on which landing craft boat (LCI's) the A Troop of No 4 Commando was when they Landed in Normandy. Every boat was categorized by an own number, and I want to know that Number.
Are there any pictures of that LCI's from the landings ?
Thanks a lot
Daniel

No4 sailed on the LSIs Princess Astrid and Maid of Orleans. There is a picture in Donald Gilchrist's book "Don't Cry For Me" of commandos leaving and LCT. I have no found any numbers yet but will keep looking.

That would be great for the period 1944 ! If you have any picture showing it with commandos or from D-Day that would be great.
Thanks a lot

The website of Stan Hough, who is mentioned in a previous message has a diary type recording of events that took place involving Princess Astrid. There is considerable detail about Normandy, Dieppe and other areas where the ship saw action. Quite fascinating reading. A google search on the ships name shows several individuals war stories and one or two have some LCA numbers included. Also there is a archive/history contact on the following link
