Hiya.

My Dad was HBL MNBDO from Feb 40 through to May 44 and was wondering what he would have been up to during those years. He died 12 years ago but my Mum has recently passed so I now have his medals and paperwork. He has the Africa star and Burma star among many others. He joined in 1929 and left in 1956. His paperwork states where he was before and after the war but just says HBL MNBDO from Feb 1940 through to May 1944 then HBL RMT GROUP . After some digging we think he may have been in No1 Commando? I do remember some things he mentioned like, they sailed in 1940 ? from somewhere in Scotland to North Africa without escorts. He also said they travelled all the way across India by train after he left North Africa. He also mentioned words that Mountbatten had said to them before they entered Burma, which were "to go into Burma and kill the enemy". I'm really interested to find out more about my Dads career . I know its a long shot but maybe someone may have more info. After the war he was a DI in deal, left in 56 as a C/SGT.

Thanks
