Hello Troy

There are some comments about Edward McDonald towards the end of this WW2TV podcast

https://www.bing.com/videos/riverview/relatedvideo?q=gavin+mortimer+ww2tv+the+phoney+major&mid=8A124C168CFE257863E08A124C168CFE257863E0&FORM=VIRE

There are also some comments about Edward McDonald in Bob Bennett's oral history at IWM.
This man was my paternal great-uncle. He died in Windsor, Berkshire in 2007 and took his story with him. Apart from being mentioned in dispatches in 1946, and some peacetime anecdotes, I know little about his war. I have always been curious about how a boy from Surrey ended up in the Royal Ulster Rifles in the first place. I did notice while watching 'Rogue Heroes' that Paddy Mayne and Eoin McGonegal were also with the Royal Ulster Rifles. I realise this is a long shot 80 years on, but wonder if anyone knows where I could go to research him further? I am in NZ. Thanks, Susan
