On the 7th April recorded in 7 Commando's War Diary is the following entry;
'Members of the Battalion Liaison Section were interviewed by the Bde. I.O., Lt. Waugh, and Ptes Pattison, Mander, Close and P.S.M. Harper were accepted for the Bde. Intelligence Section.'
It's quite possible this relates to Pte W.W. Pattison.
C.C. Close was posted missing on Crete 2 June 1941 and remained a POW until the wars end.
Pipe Sergeant Major Harper was due to be posted away from 7 Commando according to their Provisional Establishment dated 22nd March 1941 he was deemed over strength.
Hope this will be of some use.
Kind regards,
Alan.

Hello Pete,
Tanners unit 170/57 LAA RA supported the ground troops during Operation Exporter in 1941 so i'm guessing that he probably wasn't 11 (Scottish) Commando.
Kind regards,
Alan.

3318575 Pte J Munachen Highland Light Infantry 7 Commando was reported missing 16/17 November 1941 on the WO 417 file he is recorded as 7 Commando but actually he L Detachment and took part on Operation Squatter. Within L Detachment he was with 2 Troop, 3 Section, I Group and was part of Lt. Boningtons No.4 Flight.
Within the SAS War Diary there is a Nominal Roll and he like several others suffer from mis-spellings he is recorded as Monaghen, in another Nominal Roll published in Mars and Minerva again he is named as G.S. Monaghan. The file recording him as missing is correct and he is in-fact Monaghan/Monaghen. There is also another name recorded on the File that of 2819724 Pte. R.P. Alexander Seaforth Highlanders recorded as missing on the same date it. As the Seaforths were not in theatre at the time it looks suspiciously that he was 11 (Scottish) Commando and also L Detachment, there is no proof as yet to verify this though so i continue to search..

Hello Pete,
It's most likely 970131 Thomas T Holden, he like 3 others named were all part of the 'First 400' who shipped out from Newfoundland to the UK in 1940.
The 1 Troop for Joe Kearney is from an envelope addressed to him from his parents received prior to Operation Flipper where he became a POW.
The other 4 all returned to the RA units either in theatre or returned to the UK on disbandment of Layforce.
Initially there were 20 volunteers from their regt. but only these 5 made the grade.
Hope this helps.
Alan.

Without wishing to be pedantic if that is the correct term the picture on the Web site that Pete found names them as (Middle East Commando) when really it should be (Guards).
It is still an excellent find.

Hi Troy,
Ed MacDonald as far as I am aware survived the war, initially he was a Cameron Highlander and volunteered for the Commandos and served with 11 (Scottish) Commando and went to the ME as part of Layforce, he took part in Operation Exporter in June 1941 and later volunteered for L Detatchment. As a La nce Sergeant on the Nominal Roll he is not allocated to a Troop, Section or Group but was on Operation Squatter and was part of Maynes Flight No. 5.
He crops up now and then and most likely served with Stirlings B Squadron.
During the desert campaign he was commissioned into the West Yorkshire Regt. He was attached to 2/Seaforths befire later joining B Company 5/Camerons and served in NWE from 1944 onwards
Kind regards,
Alan.
