Hi folks,
I'm new here and hope you can help me out.
I am currently working for a study on the "Battle of the Scheldt" in October/November 1944 in the Netherlands.
As you know, the allied command in the operation was the 1st Canadian Army.
The 4th British Special Service Brigade was also involved in the battle with amphibious landings in Westkapelle and Vlissingen.
As far as I know, the 4th SSB was moved to de Haan, Belgium on September 27, 1944 to prepare for the upcoming landings on Walcheren.
My question:
To which Allied command was the 4th SSB subordinated during the Walcheren landings?
- the II. Canadian Corps?
- directly to the 1st Canadian Army?
- another command?
- from what date did this subordination come into effect?
I would be very happy about your answers :)
