I am trying to find any information about my uncle Harry Frederick Harris Mason, commonly known as "Fred" and sometimes "Jack". He reached the rank of Corporal and landed with the British forces on the Normandy coast on D-Day 1944.

He survived the Second World War and died in 1963.

I'd be so pleased if anyone has any information or could point me in the right direction.

I've attached some pictures of him in uniform.

Many thanks.

Hi Max

Your first starting point should be to apply for his service record. Despite what some pay websites might suggest the only place to get a copy of his service record is through the historical disclosure sections of the Army, Royal Navy, and RAF. Have a read how to do so here https://www.commandoveterans.org/ServiceRecords

Thank you so much Pete.

I've had a look at the guidance notes and I'll follow things up and keep my fingers crossed.

Kind regards.

Max.
