It is with much sadness that we advise you of the death on Wednesday 9th March 2022 of Jessie Beaton Taylor, aged 97, beloved wife of the late Harold (Spud) Taylor. Jessie was 16 years old when several of the Commando units began training on the Isle of Arran. Her parents, along with many others across the UK, offered their home to house some of the Commandos becoming known as Commando landladies. Jessie and Spud kept in regular contact post war with many of No.11 Commando who trained on the Isle and stayed in Lamlash. They were the organisers for many years of No.11 Commando reunions on the Isle. Jessie was the font of all knowledge about No.11 and would always welcome visitors and those seeking information about their relatives who served. She and Spud not only attended commando events at Spean Bridge but also SAS events, invited by those from No.11 who went on to serve in L Detachment SAS in WW2. Her funeral took place on the 23rd March at Lamlash Cemetery.

Rest in peace Jessie.
