On the 20th June 1943 the Old Comrades Association of the Special Service Brigade was formed at the Commando Basic Training Centre, Achnacarry

Membership No.1 was given to the Commandant of the C.B.T.C., Lt Col Charles Vaughan. Later it would be renamed the Old Comrades Association of the Army Commandos, before finally being shortened to the Commando Association.

62 years later in 2005 they stood down as an Association but some wanted to continue and formed the Commando Veterans Association. In 2019 they changed their name to Commando Association.
