Good Afternoon all,

I am tracing a chap surname of Bourne was on a raid to France to knock out a signal /radar station , from my limited research i have found two possible operations

Op Bristle June 3rd 1942 No 6 Commando

Op Barricade August 15th 1942 No 62 Commando

The account i have been told is that Bourne had attacked an anti aircraft battery

Bourne survived the war and returned home to Hove , Sussex living at Ingram Crescent.

He was active as a veteran up until his death , believed to have passed away in late sixties ?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks
Pete

The Royal Navy Commander of MTB 344 used to take the raiders on many of the Small Scale Raiding Force (62 Commando) raids was Lt. Cdr. Frederick William Parnall (or Parnell) BOURNE. One such raid was Operation Farenheit but there also quite a few other raids carried out by the SSRF. Check out the following links:

However I believe he died 22 January 2002 in Hampshire but hope this is of some help.

Pete Rogers, son of LSgt Joe Rogers MM & nephew of TSM Ken McAllister. Both No2 Commando.

Hi , yes I don't believe this is my Bourne. He was a Commando and went ashore and brought back a Luftwaffe helmet
