Looking to help an elderly gent with info about his father
Corporal (Temporary) (Acting Temporary
Sergeant) Alfred Michael HODGSON, R.M.,
Po.X. 101928.
All he knows was that he was married in 39/40 and later joined the RM and served 3 months at Southsea at some stage during his career.
So far I have found that he was mentioned in Despatches in the London Gazette in Dec 1945 but draw a blank on everything else. Besides gaining his service record which we are in the process of doing (takes upto 6 months) can anybody shed any light on ALifted please?

Pete Rogers, son of LSgt Joe Rogers MM & nephew of TSM Ken McAllister. Both No2 Commando.

It can be very difficult /frustrating when researching Royal Marines who served as Commandos in WW2 as unlike today not all Royal Marines were Commandos. Some RMrecords and documents often show just Royal Marines rather than specific Commando units (if and where applicable), and postings are often just shown as shore bases or administration offices like HMS Copra.
Do you have any photo of him that might help.
