I wonder if anyone can help me please? My late dad was a Royal Marine from 51 to 56. We have his service records. His discharge note says ?unsuitable for the rank of Marine?. It is my understanding that back then he would have had to sign for 12 years. His character was noted as VG throughout his service. I have been told PVR wasn?t an option back then either. He did have a couple of disciplinary notes, but I assume they were minor or would have resulted in loss of VG for his character. What would ?unsuitable? mean upon discharge? We are trying to find out more details but this is preying on my mind! Also hope you don?t mind that I?m ex REME 😀

Cheers!
