Jessie Taylor is the most ardent supporter of No 11 Commando on the Isle of Arran. Jessie was 16 years old and the daughter of a Commando landlady when 11 Commando were based at Lamlash. Jessie maintained regular contact with members of No 11 Commando, several of whom joined the SAS, after the end of the war, and with the help of her late husband Spud used to organise all the 11 Commando reunions on the island. Not only that but to this day Jessie still helps families looking to discover more about how the Commandos spent their tme on Arran. Many happy returns and best wishes to Jessie aged 96 today.

Pete Rogers, son of LSgt Joe Rogers MM & nephew of TSM Ken McAllister. Both No2 Commando.
God and the Soldier, all men adore, In time of danger and not before.
When the danger is passed and all things righted, God is forgotten, and the Soldier slighted.
