Watch a video of Cpl James Edgar, the last surviving commando from Operation Basalt.

Now 96 and living in Australia, Mr Edgar sent this message to the book launch on Sark last weekend.

Fabulous! I loved that ... thank you.

This must have been the Operation that dad told me about when I was very young - I can still remember the lively discussion that ensued.
If I have praised my comrades too highly I make no apology, for they were beyond all praise.
