It is with much sadness that we inform you of the recent death on Friday 2nd August 2013 of Bob Lowson MM. Our thoughts at this time are with his son Alex, and all family and friends. We have no details of funeral arrangements at present.

Bob was in the Liverpool Scots with my father and uncle, and all 3 volunteered for the Independent Companies which later formed part of the 1st Special Service Bn, during which time Bob was attached to Force X sailing to Malta. He was later one of the SAS originals in L Detachment and, whilst with the 1st SAS Regiment, was awarded the Military Medal for his Gallantry on the 7th September 1944 during an operation behind enemy lines on the Nevers - La Charitie road in France. He was in command of a patrol of 2 jeeps that attacked a German motorised convoy.

A photo of Bob with others from No.4 Independent Company is here:

Rest in peace Bob
