Belgian Army in Exile cap badge as worn by 10 Cdo, 4 Troop (and indeed all Belgium army exiles)

Thanks Paul

I had seen our examples but wasn't sure of its authenticity ......so just checking.

I also wasn't aware that it was worn by all Belgian army exiles.........

I think with the exception of the French troop who later switched to the 1st Battalion Fusilier Marine Commando cap badge, all the troops in exile; Polish, Dutch, Belgian, Czech and Norwegians all used their regular army cap badges. Not sure what the Germans within X Troop used though!

It's a nice area to collect, and most are relatively easy and cheap to obtain (except the aforementioned French badge)

Cheers

CAUTION: Most Commando insignia has been reproduced including the French 1re Battalion F.M. Commandos shield shaped beret badge. Some or most of the copies have M CHAUVET PARIS 1943 in raised letters on the back. The late Maurice Chauvet was in a French Troop in No. 4 Commando in WWII. He had the copies made post-war. Some people have sold them as originals on eBay but simple logic and knowledge of history tells you that no badge manufacturer in Paris in 1943, when Paris was occupied by the Nazis, would be making badges for the Free French / Fighting French in the UK.
