Hi there,
I am presently researching the commando training that took place at Lochailort during the 1940`s with Sykes and Fairbairn, and would love to contact any veterans who experienced training under these instructors.
Particularly interested in any original footage of Sykes and Fairbairn training.
I may be contacted here, directly by e-mail at [email protected] or on 0131 557 1510.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Yours Very Truly,
Paul Macdonald

I certainly wish you luck in your research into Lochailort training. Sorry I can't help in this connection. Perhaps you could contact Dr. Roderick Bailey who is the S.O.E. Historian at the Imperial War Museum. He might have something, or help in the direction of your research.
Regards,

Research is still ongoing.
I have located some of the original close combat syllabus as taught at Lochailort, but still would be very interested to contact any ex-commandos who trained under Sykes and Fairbairn at Lochailort or Achnacarry.
Any leads or help would be very much appreciated.
Yours Very Truly,

Hi Paul
I don't know if this will be of any use to you, or if you are already aware of it, but have you seen the book by A.E. Fairburn titled "Get Tough" which is all about un-armed combat techniques. I have not read it myself but I believe it is still in print.
cheers
Andy :-) :-)
