Can any one help with info his name was George Edward Campbell from Yorkshire.

The main information is that he originally joined the Cold stream Guards but went on to pass the Army Commando selection

He then went on to Serve with No 9 Commando and then No3 when they disbanded or it could be the other way around.
I have many medals of his but I also have a certificate that mentions his service in Italy. I still have his Commando membership card but there is no serial number.
If any one can help comtact CVA through Greenlid email address Thanks

Hello,

I have carried some research into No. 9 Commando and have a record of a 14359667 Cpl G. Campbell of 5 Troop (late of the Buffs). I appreciate that there is no evidence that this is the person you are looking for, but it may help. Perhaps you already know that the Commandos were raised in June and July 1940, but disbanded in November 1940, only to be raised again in March 1941. This may explain why George Campbell would have been with both No. 3 and No.9.

Good luck with your research.
