Whilst browsing back through all the messages sent to me I found this one which I had missed and for that I must apologise to Alex Kean who sent me it. ( If I have done this to others just send me another message with a gentle nudge as reminder) It is a link to a newspaper article dated June 2010 about 30 Assault Unit titled
Cwmbran veteran recalls secret wartime role with safecracker

It recounts the memories of Dennis Whitcombe, now aged 90, of Cwmbran, who was a member of 30 Commando Assault Unit. It mentions his friendship with another member of that unit Johnny Ramensky MM, a legendary safecracker.

If anyone lives in the Cwmbran area it might be worth trying to make contact with Dennis.

I have just seen a write up about a new book called 'Ian Fleming's Commandos', A history of 30 Assault Unit by Nicholas Rankin published by Faber & Faber. I am unsure whether this is the same book mentioned previously or not.

Son of Dennis Cooper, 1 troop 4 Commando.
