He was wounded shortly after landing at Normandy but continued to serve in action for 63 days until someone noticed he had perforated both eardrums during a Naval Gunfire Support barrage from HMS Warspite. Sadly he crossed the bar in November 2003. Prior to joining No 4 Commando he was called up and trained as a signaller first with 143 bty RA and then the Middlesex Regt he was discharged in 1946/7 after guarding SS officer POWs at Crewe Hall.- About me,Joined the RN: 1972 married 1979 Served in: Coastal Patrol Craft, Submarine Service, Fleet Air Arm, 3 Cdo Bgd Commando Helicopter Operations & Support Cell.
