I am trying to do some research for myself and family members, of our Dad.Sadly he died on the 9th of September 1993. Hi name was: William Taylor D.O.B:13.02.1917 Army number was: 4130202 and he held the rank of L/SGT in 1943.His regiment was The Cheshire Regiment and I have an 8th army bar which sits across one of his medals. He was awarded: 1939-45 Star :Africa Star : Italy Star :Prisioner of War also a further two medals but they do not indicate which campaign. I have a telegram dated 14th July 1943 which reports him as missing (he was in fact prisioner of war at that time in Sicily). At that time his home address was Atherton Lancashire. I do know that he was a boxer whilst with the Commandos' and i have a picture of him at that time. I would be so grateful if anybody was able to help me in my search to gather more information about his army days, or point me in the direction of where i would be able to obtain anything further.
