Hi JD,

May I ask what relation, if any, you are to Islwyn Alderman? I see you are from Glamorganshire so I'm guessing you are a relative?

The information we have is that Islwyn J R 'Jake' Alderman served with the Welch Regt before joining No.1 Commando.

Hi JD,

If you look at the link I sent you it will take you to part of the No.1 Commando nominal Roll that we compiled. Islwyn's regimeal number is on that.

During WWII, no campaign medals were engraved with names or numbers..
Islwyn's next of kin can apply to the MoD for a scan of his original, handwritten service record - the MoD are the only custodian of WWII Records. Don't bother with any other online geneology website such as Forces War Records - they will not hold them.
For background of what Islwyn experienced have a look here...

Hi JD

The long photo you referred to very well may have been the panorama photo of No1 taken in Winchester just before they went overseas to Burma, I have actually got an original version of this photo and it is approx 36" long. As you will see if you follow the link there is also a numbered version to enable you to pin point any individuals for ID purposes. (see link)

jd,

Just had a message from a friend whose father was also in No.1 Commando and who was a friend of Jake.

Would you like to make contact?
