Fairbairn and Sykes daggers

I have just acquired an edition 3 dagger in need of TLC, point of blade is missing, and it has a wooden handle, anyone have any info on why wooden handles.
Collecting Wednesday hopefully.
Any info greatly appreciated.

They were issued with wooden handles.(very hard to find).

Buyer be ware! As there are no identification marks to authenticate these daggers. (I personally now only purchase commemorative daggers with limited issue numbers). There are so many 'ringers' out there, 'Original Commando daggers' being among the many.
