Hi All
New to the forum, just recently starting collecting fs knifes.
Recently purchased this 3rd pattern which has 42 RM stamped onto it, just wondering if it could be malaya period?? or does anyoe know if this was the norm, marking fs kniives with the unit?? also looks like the guys name on the sheath, STEEL

Might consider an exchange for commemorative daggers, any maker, i am however currently looking for sas ones.
cheers
Brian

When I saw it last night my first thought was 'Oooooooooo!'.

I don't have a knife but would treasure a knife that had been owned by one of our dear Commandos.

Still, one can't have everything, can one? :)

If I have praised my comrades too highly I make no apology, for they were beyond all praise.

I went to a commando friend's funeral and his widow took me to one side at the wake and said "He wanted you to have his knife" I was in shock and got very emotional . It had gone from Normandy to Germany with him .She said his sons would sell it

The 42 RM knife looks quite unusual to me.

Is the handle sprayed green? It looks like William Rogers (MFG) going by the thin Cross gaurd..........are there any other marks on it?

regards

John M

Hi John
Havent received the knife yet so cannot comment on it too much, just waiting for it to arrive. My opinion is that the handle does look like it has been sprayed, as far as i know, no other markings.
It also surprises me why these items arent kept in the family, especially a knife like this with the Guys name on it?? I know if it was part of my family's history, it wouldnt be going anywhere, whatever the price

cheers

Stephen, that's so very special. He knew it would be treasured.

On a close look at the photo I think this maybe a WW2 knife as it has the small drop forge triangle below the cross guard on the blade.
