Hi All,
I'd like to say a huge thank you to one and all for all the assistance and information provided about our Uncle Teddy (Tydfil).
Whilst some of it shows he was a "scallywag" at certain times, we know a huge amount more than when I first posted here; although still a long way to go.
Finally.
If anyone has any further information, or possible leads, would welcome this, even if it showed he was still a scallywag.
Again thank you one and all.
Perhaps if any of you come to the Falklands, look me up, we'll have a whet or three or more.
And visit to my distillery
Yours aye
Taff

Tydfil also served North West Europe 1944-1945. The medal ribbon to the right of the Italy Star is the France Germany Star. There also appears to be an African Star ribbon partially obscured by the tunic collar.
Was he a professional boxer post-war?

Hi Guy
thank you for the information,
We know he was a professional boxer 1938/9, but he used the name of "Teddy Coombes".
You see he was born out of wedlock abd we wonder why he used this name (which was his family's name) then used Tydfil Ronald James?
We are now trying to find out why he used that name.
Many thanks

Hi Nick
Very many thanks for your response - very much appreciated.
I'll do as you say, but our problem is that we don't know which Regiment, Corps etc., he enlisted with, nor do we know his service number - still searching family for this, and as I'm living in the Falkland Islands - tis somewhat long winded.
Again many thanks
Yours Aye

Hi There
Am looking for information on my uncle who was wartime army commando..
The only info I have is his name - Tydfil Ronald James.
I know he served in Italy, and that's it..
I also have a photo of his battledress tunic, with green beret, but what appears to be Special Air Service cap badge
Many thanks if any one can help
