Thank you both, so much!
Some places are right on my doorstep - once the better weather arrives (pffft!) I'll be out there, exploring.
More reading .... great stuff. :)

I also enquired after medals that I know my dad didn't send for at the time.
Excited? Moi? Non! )

I'm on a roll here, twice in as many days.
Thought I'd keep this here cos I don't know where else it would go. Anybody heard of Auxiliary Units that were formed at the same time as Commandos? Is there something on this Forum that I've missed?
A man I work with sent me some photos of underground cellars that were to be used in case we were invaded - and, apparently, the people were trained to very high and exacting standards. I found it all very interesting.

Can anybody who has received these remember how they were delivered? Interlink are re-delivering a parcel tomorrow and I can't think of anybody who would be sending me something that couldn't be put through the letterbox ... except ...
Fingers and toes are well and truly crossed. Plays havoc with the typing though ...

Just wondering ... has an 'appropriate' bid been made yet?

I saw it first time round. :) Anything that mentions Commandos is worth watching.

He's going to be remembered, alongside his fellow-Commandos. Brings a tear to the eye.
RIP Mr James ... and thank you.

Yes, I read that yesterday but missed it on the One Show ... too busy watching something on Yesterday about SAS and SOE. Will watch it later.

Stephen, that's so very special. He knew it would be treasured.

When I saw it last night my first thought was 'Oooooooooo!'.
I don't have a knife but would treasure a knife that had been owned by one of our dear Commandos.
Still, one can't have everything, can one? :)
