An updated photo gallery is on its way. The new version will allow members to upload and categorise their photos so that they can be grouped together in different combinations, e.g. by commando unit, or year of photograph etc. Just looking at the photos that have been uploaded to the forum already, I think it will make for interesting viewing.

Hi Denise,
No problems, if you upload images that are either '.gif' or '.jpg' format then the picture will be displayed automatically. Your original upload was a bitmap (.bmp) file, which means that the web browser cannot display it. So I converted it to a .jpg so that users could see it without needing to download it.
With a bit of luck this will help jog someones memories.
Good luck.

It seems that we have a clear majority in favour of a new forum. So it has been created. I have moved topics that seem to be relevant, please let me know if I have moved any incorrectly or missed any out.
Thanks

Please vote if you would like a new Forum for "Collectors and memorabilia".
All the posts relating to memorabilia etc can be moved into that.

Hi Nic,
Thanks for the feedback. The "Bold" highlight issue is quite tricky to resolve , but i'll certainly give it a go.
I will also post some help guides over the next few days, and i'll try to keep things simple. You'll have to let me know how well I do.

Nothing is perfect.
I would be very happy to hear members opinions on the forum, and the website. Please feel free to post messages about how the forum and website can be improved.
Thanks

Hi All,
Just a brief explanation about forum rankings. The forum ranking is a simple fun way for users to recognise how active other users of the forum are. There is a simple ranking system based on the number of messages posted. The more messages you post the higher your rank. As the forum is still young I think the highest rank at the moment is Lance Corpral. Here is a list of the ranks as they are at the moment and the number of forum posts required to obtain the rank (please feel free to let me know your thoughts on this):
Rank No Posts
Forum Private 0
Forum Lance Corporal 5
Forum Corporal 20
Forum Sergeant 35
Forum Colour Sergeant 50
Forum Sergeant Major 75
Forum Lieutenant 100
Forum Captain 150
Forum Major 200
Forum Lieutenant-Colonel 500
Forum Colonel 750
Forum Brigadier 1500

Hi All,
Just to give you some tips about uploading images. If you want to add a an image to your post do the following:
1) When you post a new message, take a look at the bottom of the form. You will see there is a button "Attach Files". If you click this a new window is shown below.
2) Use the browse button next to filename to locate the image to be uploaded. The image must be either a .jpg or .gif file.
3) Give the image a description.
4) Submit your post in the normal way.
The image will appear in the post like this:
