Just to say a big thanks to Pete and Nick for all of their help with sorting out the photo's and documents of my grandfather, Pte Thomas Hall of 1 Commando [South Wales Borderers] and posting them up on here and the photo gallery, I've also put some up on the Facebook page as well, if anybody would like to have a look. It's great that people like Pete and Nick [plus others I expect] dedicate their spare time to helping other's out and maintaining the CVA website, otherwise we wouldn't have this tool to find out and remember past Commando's and their daring deed's that assisted in the cause of winning the Second World War. I enjoy going on this website very much, as I think all the people who visit it do and I hope that I get as much out of it as the 'Old Comrades' and their families have. It's a time for remembering loved ones that have passed away, whenever and wherever it was, but also, those who have survived too. I, myself as I expect other people on here do, just don't do 'it' for this weekend of Remembrance, we remember every day and that what this website and the volunteers are all about, keeping their memory alive. All the best and thank you.
Kindest of Regards,
Darren Little.

Hi Everybody,
Have been off here for a few years unfortunately, apologies for that, hope everybody is bearing up well. I have now found the CVA Facebook page [didn't know it existed!] and have posted a few photo's on there, after working out how to use my scanner. Do'h! Hopefully someone will recognise him and will get in touch, fingers crossed. I will try and attach some of the same photo's on here too, as not everyone are doing the social media thing. Here goes!
Kind Regards,
Darren Little

Just to let you know Andy that no; 83 is my grandfather , Thomas Hall and next to him is his friend , no; 84 , Percy Spires . I've been away from this site for much too long , but my interest has been rekindled by my son , who has done a project just before Remembrance Day , where he got so involved in his great grandfathers past in the Commandos , that he took all the artifacts we had [ medals/letters/Japanese compass/mags etc.] into school , where he was commended on the work he had produced not only by his teacher and headteacher , but also by veterans that were there to commerate Armistice Day .
The photo in question on your website of 1 Commando at Winchester Barracks , was one that my mother had a long time ago , but was in such bad condition unfortunately from being rolled up , it was hard to make people out , she remembers that she attended that day when she was 3 years old , so I was hoping , would it possible for me to purchase this item off you , for a Christmas present for her and would it arrive in time . Best wishes to all on here for the festive period and apologies to those people who I didn't reply to last year who took the time to assist myself in looking for as much information as I could gleen about my grandfathers Army Commandos days .
Regards ,
Darren Little[ Npteggchaser ].

I'm looking for any information about my grandfather , from when he joined the Commandos [originally in the South Wales Borderers I think] , upto the time he was demobbed , I've tried accessing various websites to gain this , but to no avail . I was previously [mid 1980's onwards] , an associated member of the now disbanded 'Old Comrades Association' based at Brompton Road in London and regularly received their newsletter every March and October. From this I did get a reply off Henry Brown himself , stating that he knew my grandfather , but unfortunately since then I have moved several times and the letter etc. has been misplaced or left behind . Anyone who has anything , however trivial they might think it is ,would be greatly appreciated , ie: training/billets/what troop/raids/air-train-sea journeys/1 Commando history/theatre of operations/dispersal units ,etc., thank you all in advance.
Regards ,
Mr . D Little
