According to Eric Buckmaster Dad and other No 2 Commandos in Hospital in Italy were talked into a transfer into SIB once they were released from Hospital and I have a lot of more photos of this period than any other.

I am not sure if those are of interest or not so any advice or requests will be welcome.

Hi Again howard

My Dad was sent to Bari after/ during operation Sarande in Albania . This proved to be his last action as he did not take part at Lake Commachio .
He was sent to Berlin to work at a radio station after the unit was broken up in the early post war period.

So yes I for one would be interested in an pictures you may have .

Thanks

Thanks Lindsay, shall I post them for all do you think or if you want to supply me with an email I will zip them to you anyway. Was your Dad in SIB?

I have lots of photos from Rome around 1946 and some beach shots where Dad and some guys/girls were obviously on some R&R.

Hoping there are Ex-Commandos like Dad in the photos to make them relevant to the forum or of general interest.

Thanks for posting those pictures I don't see my Dad in any of them but they are great photos just the same . I know that he was in Naples and Rome as well , we have some pics taken at the coliseum etc. so they were probably there either at or near the same time.

That is quite the photo album you have managed to save . Thanks again for sharing it .

Thanks Lindsay and I am sorry it wasn't of more use. I think many of us now wish we had asked more questions but on the flip side our respect for their wishes to put in the past the horrors they must have endured was not a bad thing either.

Not knowing if you or your friends would be there from one moment to the next must have been a heavy burden for them all, and puts wondering if we will have a job tomorrrow into perspective.
