Hi,
I just received my Dad?s paperwork from MOD. It states he was in 45 RM CDO in ww2. How do I find out which troop he was in? On some paperwork it says class A. Could that mean troop A?
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Jackie

Jackie without seeing the page my thought would be Class 'A' may well be referring to his release from service to the Reserve List based on fitness. Age and Service Groups would also be shown as A&SG or A&G with a number. Troop numbers are unlikely to be shown on Service Records.

Can you post all the documents that might help.
All Marines were released from divisions so the Coy short for company would be within a div, where they discharged from.
Could also be an old form used in the process.

Your dad has a Portsmouth division number which is close to my grandads number he was PO/X111957
PO/x was a Ports div number for a hostilities only marine.
Check out the troop photos in the gallery, it?s worth a try.

I?ve just spoken to 45 Commando Veteran Lt Bryan Samain.
His reply is :- Sorry, Jeff, but I do not remember the name.
Did he serve in NW Europe in 1944/45 and/or
Hong Kong in 1946 ? He was not present
at the only postwar reunion '45' ever had
(in 1979) which I attended. Regrettably, I
cannot help any further. Regards, Bryan.

Hi Jeff, he was in NW Europe at that time, but did not server in Hong Kong. Per my Dad?s records, Craig surmised he was in ?B? group, but am yet to find any clear group photos of that group yet.
Thank you,
Jackie

My pleasure Jackie,
I know how frustrating it is to not find the Group Photo.
Good luck in your search.
Best wishes
Jeff
