Nick and I cleared Nan`s loft yesterday and found some photos, Dad told me to put them on.

Nan thinks it is somewhere in Wales, Grandpa is 3rd row down from the top, starting from the lefthand side, 8th person in.

There are signatures on the back, which I don`t think will show up very well when they`re scanned, after some of the signatures are initials, some of these gents were S.S, Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry and the Queens own Cameron Highlanders, it`s very hard to read after being shut away for 64 years.

take care
Denise and Nick xx

Hi Denise,
That's the Holding Operational Commando in Wrexham.

The HOC was where trained Commandos were held (post Achnacarry) before moving forward to their respective Commando - basically to replace killed and wounded commandos.

Staff were made up from wounded Commandos - my father served there as an Instructor after being wounded in Burma.
It was a very frustrating posting for veteran Commandos.
I will scrutinise your photo very closely to see if my Dad is there.
