I am looking for any information on the soldier below whose details I have found on the German Record Cards of British and Commonwealth Prisoners of War ref. National Archives file WO 416/11/194. The date and place of capture are obviously identical to that of Operation Chariot at St. Nazaire 28 March 1942. I have already advised Jim Dorrian, author and St. Nazaire Society Historian, who is making enquiries himself.

Name: David Ashton.
Date of Birth: 2 July 1896.
Place of Birth: Cairns, Queensland, Australia.
Service: Australian Imperial Forces.
Rank: Private.
Regiment/Unit/Squadron: Royal Australian Engineers.
Service Number: PX 2279.
Date of Capture: 28 March 1942.
Theatre of Capture: St Nazaire, France.
Camp Name/Number: Stalag VII A Moosburg.
PoW number: 92659.
