Thursday 30th December at 9pm on BBC Alba.
During World War II the Highlands were an ideal training ground for a new kind of soldier: among the mountains recruits learned a special type of warfare. Murdo MacDonald hears about this episode in Britains military history and re-lives it.

BBC Alba is a Scottish Gaelic-language free-to-air television channel (with subtitles).

God and the Soldier, all men adore, In time of danger and not before.
When the danger is passed and all things righted, God is forgotten, and the Soldier slighted.
