For those in the Portsmouth area or who may be planning a visit I recommend a visit to the Royal Navy Museum where amongst other things to see and enjoy is an exhibition for the Royal Navy Coastal Forces. They operated with Commandos on many raids and post war their former Association had good links with the original Commando Association. This included the Coastal Forces Veterans Association inviting Commando Veterans of 2 Special Service (Commando) Brigade to join them on their return visits to the Island of Vis and strong bonds were formed.
Here is more about the exhibition:
Pete Rogers, son of LSgt Joe Rogers MM & nephew of TSM Ken McAllister. Both No2 Commando.
God and the Soldier, all men adore, In time of danger and not before.
When the danger is passed and all things righted, God is forgotten, and the Soldier slighted.
