Hi Rod

Your Father was imprisoned at Stalag 344 which was in Poland. Our archive has some information about your Father's Commando unit here:

http://www.commandoveterans.org/40RMCommando

The War Diary for this Commando can be downloaded for free at the moment from the National Archives. All you have to do is register on there. Here is the link:

https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C2954419

If you post a photo of your father I will include it in our gallery for 40RM Commando here. Check the photos before the Dieppe Raid which was on 19 August 1942: http://gallery.commandoveterans.org/cdoGallery/v/units/Royal+Marine+Commando+Units/40+RM+Cdo/

You might wish to also check out our gallery here for POW's. Check out both Stalag 344 and Stalag V111B as they were the same location http://gallery.commandoveterans.org/cdoGallery/v/WW2/POW/
