Dear All,
I am looking for any original evidence from the 1940`s relating to the existence of the 1st pattern FS commando knife with the 3" guard.
The 2" `S`guard was the standard for most 1st pattern and straight 2" for all 2nd and 3rd patterns, but there are examples of 1st pattern knives on the market with the 3" `S` guard. It has been suggested that these were never made during the `40`s, but after the war.
Any stories or anecdotes about the existence of these knifes either being made or issued would go a long way to defining an historical anomaly.
Thanks in advance for any assistance,
Macdonald
