Jack Bakker has sent me this email and a link to the Dutch MOD website where there is an article about some of the Norwegians who took part at Walcheren. It is in Dutch but if you open the article, then right click the page, you may get the option to transalate. Otherwise Nick's link above, and Jack's description below, give details of the action referred to
The link below is a message from the site of the Dutch MOD and is about four Norwegian commando veterans who were decorated on the 26th of October for their work done during the fighting on the island of Walcheren, more precise at Westkapelle. The four Norwegians became the medal called Ridder in de Orde van Oranje Nassau. Freely translated it means Knight in the Order of Orange Nassau. It is not a Knighthood as you know in the UK though. In the text it says that No 5 Norwegian Troop attacked a German artillery battery on the 3rd of November 1944. The battery was taken after two hours of fighting and 211 prisoners of war were taken. On the 5th of November No 5 Troop attacked again under heavy artillery bombardment. The night was spent on open ground and under fire of German snipers and patrols. On the 7th of November the Norwegian Troop was involved in pushing back the Germans in their last defensive positions. After aerial bombardment the next day the last assault took place and the Germans surrendered on Walcheren. The Norwegians lost three men killed, ten men wounded and one man missing.
