It is with much sadness that we are advised by David Justice of the death in the early hours of this morning of Eric Buckmaster, a veteran of No.2 Commando 5 Troop, and a well loved and much respected Association member. Eric was 98 years old and attended many of the Association's past events. Our deepest condolences to his wife Margaret and all his Family and friends.

Eric shared a few of his memories a few years ago which I placed in our Archive. His brother Stanley also served in 5 Troop. Post war they both served in London (TA) 10th Battalion Parachute Regiment, and spent 6 years jumping out of aeroplanes and balloons. Read more here:

My love and condolences to Margaret, his family and friends. A very special and kind man.

That is a wonderful photo of the three No. 2 comrades.

From Adrian Buckmaster

It is with great sadness that our beloved father Eric Buckmaster passed away peacefully in his sleep yesterday morning.

He enjoyed a very full life and was one month short of his 99th Birthday. As with many veterans he only recently started to talk about his activities during the war and we are delighted that his recent appearance on The One Show prompted us to make an audio and video record of the timeline of his experiences.

He leaves his wife Margaret Buckmaster and an extensive family with 18 great grandchildren who have loved and been loved throughout his long life.

Eric was a true Gentleman and will be sadly missed by all who met and knew him. We enjoyed his company at several Commando gatherings, and especially our CVA trip to Normandy a few years ago where he shared some pleasant memories of his time with his comrades in 2 Cdo.
Our condolences to Margaret and family.
RIP Eric.
Our thoughts and kindest regards.
John and Ben White and family.
