5th independent company Norway 1940

Hi,
I am currently researching my late fathers military record. It appears following his decision to join the 8th Royal Fusiliers in March 1939, his first action was serving with the 5th Independent company in Norway. I understand he must have volunteered for this unit and like 9 other units were drawn from Territorial battalions. My dad was in the 8th Royal Fusiliers 56th Division. I would be very grateful if anyone could provide more detail of what happened to the 5th in Norway and what type of action and experiences they encountered. I've seen on another page on this site the registered death of a E.Ainsley 8th fusilier who died in Norway and would likely known my Dad. Any information would be extremely grateful,
