I recently discovered the first name we and others had for this Commando was wrong. We had him as Leo rather than Levi Homer which he may have used in the circumstances of that period of war. In researching this I also found the tragic story of the death of his sister Emily, a mother of 10 children, 6 weeks after Levi was reported missing, and just days before the family were notified he was a prisoner of war. Quite a tragic story from start to end in this article published in the Liverpool Echo 6th May 1942

God and the Soldier, all men adore, In time of danger and not before.
When the danger is passed and all things righted, God is forgotten, and the Soldier slighted.
