I am looking for information on Derek Peter Jarram who was posted to No 2 Commando 5-9-44.

Any personal info please.

Derek does not appear on our Nominal rolls at the moment and I am researching at this time to place him there.

Derek spent time with the Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders before joining No 2 Cdo.

Here is an extract of part of the No.2 Commando War Diary for 5 September 1944:

Monopoli - Arrival of draft from U.K. of 3 Officers and 53 O.R.'s

I have an unofficial handwritten list of those who served in No.2 Commando. It lists a Pte. D.P. Jarram (same service number) as being returned to his unit 3 November 1944. From the date you stated he joined 5 September 1944 this would be 2 months. Between October and November in excess of 20 men are listed as Returned to Unit for a number of reasons.

I would stress that this list is unofficial and the Service Record should be checked for full details.

Yes I have his service record to hand and I can confirm the dates you mention are correct.

I had a very interesting meeting with two of Derek's relations last night and can also confirm the photo attached is of Derek and another unknown comrade.

I appreciate this is an old thread but Derek is my late grandfather and I was wondering how I go about obtaining the information you have managed to gather about him? My late mother was his eldest daughter and she told me some years ago that he served in the Irish Guards. In the photograph you have uploaded he is sitting on the Trevi Fountain.

Sam has Peters service record in her keeping.

What we gleaned from the record on Sams visit to me is now on this site.

This site only records the record of the soldiers time in the commandos. In Peters case this was for a two month period with No 2 Commando.

However the Service record of Peters will record his entire military service with other units etc ..wounds ...promotions....medals .....

So to get the full picture you would need to view the service record.

So in short all I know of Peters Commando service is on this site and I know nothing else regarding other info on him.
