chindits

I have recntly been reading a book on the Burma campaign by John Latimer which talks about the Chindits.....Were the Commando's classed as the Chindits or were they a seperate unit? The book is very detailed and at times a bit confusing for me but is a fantastic read, one I would highly recommend, but I just wonder whether or not the chindits and commandos are the same thing???

Any help is always greatly apprecieated!!

Mark, Further to the previous answer, The Chindits were not Commandos in the true sense, although they were trained in some commando techniques.
