Fokko Meering has kindly sent us some photos of war graves at Venray War Cemetery which are now in the Gallery. These can be viewed here:
Venray War Cemetery.
He also sent the attached photo of Lock Linne in the River Maas.
Fokko adds, "It is next to, what the allies used to call, Bell Island. Bell Island is the area which officially bears the name "Osen". Heavy fighting in January 1945. This is the area where a patrol of 45 RM Commando was ambushed by the Germans, after crossing the Maas. I believe some ten marines were kia, including Peter Winston. All of them rest in Nederweert War Cemetery."

God and the Soldier, all men adore, In time of danger and not before.
When the danger is passed and all things righted, God is forgotten, and the Soldier slighted.
