Appeal after collection box damaged at Commando Memorial

Police in Lochaber are appealing for information after a collection box at the Commando Memorial near Spean Bridge was found to have been damaged.
The box, which raises fund for the upkeep of the site , appears to have struck with some kind of tool in an apparent attempt to force entry damaging the lock.
The damage was discovered on Tuesday, August 28 and is believed to have occurred sometime in the last two weeks.
Entry was not gained to the collection box and nothing was stolen.
Constable Brian Heriot said: "This is a particularly disrespectful act given the location of this collection box and what the funds are used for
"We would urge anybody who saw anything suspicious in the area or has information which could assist us to get in touch as soon as possible."
Anyone with information can contact police in Fort William on 101, quoting reference NP3483/18, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
