It is with much sadness that Fred Davies advises us of the death on the 13th August 2018 of John Clegg, aged 101 years, our oldest Association member. Our sincere condolences to all his Family and friends.

I was lucky enough to meet and chat with John some 8 years ago at Alrewas. He told me a little of his service which I include here. John volunteered for the Independent Companies from the East Lancashire Regiment. He joined No.10 Independent Company, and later No.1 Commando 6 troop. John's Commando training was at Inverailort in 1940. He went to North Africa with No.1 Cdo. where he was wounded.

Rest in peace John.

God and the Soldier, all men adore, In time of danger and not before.
When the danger is passed and all things righted, God is forgotten, and the Soldier slighted.
