William Henry Chedzey RN Cdo

I am looking for information about my late father William Henry Chedzey.
He would never talk to me about his time in the forces.
Lately my son has asked about his grandfather. We decide to try to find out what we could.

I have my fathers CERTIFICATE of service but this has limited information.
It lists his ships up until he left the forces.
The only thing I have of his apart from the CERTIFICATE of sercive is his Commando badges. I have passed these badges onto my son.

The last two ships listed on his record are HMS Quebec & HMS Copra.
I understand these relate to his Commando service.
My main question is how can I find out what particular Commando unit he was attached to and what operations he may have been involved in.

Do you know what service your father was in? Army, RN or Royal Marines?
When you say Commando Badges do you mean:

The Combined Ops badge:

The Commando Proficiency badge

or the Commando Shoulder Titles

On his Certificate of Service, does it have his Service number?

Thanks for the reply.
Dad's badge was the combined ops badge.
His Commando Shoulder Title was in red and just stated COMMANDO.
He started off in the Royal Navy.

His service number wasJX214768/CO

Thanks for that info, now there is a foundation to start building on.

Most of the members on here are son, daughters etc of Army Commandos but there has been some posts relating to RN Commandos - let's hope you get some feedback.
