70 years ago, on the 21st May 1948, the Combined Services Memorial at Westminster Abbey was unveiled by the Right Honourable Sir Winston Churchill KG PC. It is well worth a visit if you have never been there. There is a small service at the memorial each year on Remembrance weekend.
The inscription below the bronze figure depicting a Commando reads
To the Glory of God and in memory of all ranks of the Commandos who fell in the Second World War 1939-1945. They performed whatsoever the King commanded.
