'Spud' Taylor, husband of Jessie Taylor, died last month. Spud was chairman of the Isle of Arran Royal British Legion but not a Commando. However he and his wife Jessie were the most ardent supporters of No 11 Commando on the Isle of Arran. Jessie was 16 years old and the daughter of a Commando landlady when 11 Commando were based at Lamlash. Spud and Jessie had been together for over 70 years. They maintained regular contact with members of No 11 Commando after the end of the war, and used to organise all the 11 Commando reunions on the island. Not only that but to this day Jessie still helps families looking to discover more about how the Commandos spent their tme on Arran.

Our deepest sympathy and condolences go out to Jessie.

Rest in peace Spud.

Pete Rogers, son of LSgt Joe Rogers MM & nephew of TSM Ken McAllister. Both No2 Commando.
God and the Soldier, all men adore, In time of danger and not before.
When the danger is passed and all things righted, God is forgotten, and the Soldier slighted.
