It is with great sadness that Ian McHarg advises us of the recent death last week of Captain Gerald Bryan aged 96. He was awarded the Military Cross for his gallantry at the battle of Litani River whilst a Lieutenant in No 11 Commando. He lost a leg during this operation and was subsequently forced to resign his commission in the rank of Captain as a result of his injuries on the 1st September 1944. Post war he had a distinguished career in the Colonial Service as a British Government Administrator.

Our condolences to all his family and friends.

Rest in peace Gerald.

I hope that this will be successful.

If it is, you will find attached a short but rather amusing piece about Captain Bryan from The Daily Telegraph that also appeared in yesterday's Sunday Times.
